About Me

Hey girl, hey! I’m Karima – welcome to my site!

I am a proud black woman. 40-something. NYC born, Colorado living. I love Black Baby Jesus and he loves me. I’m a mom, educator, music lover, perpetual learner, COACH bag, Le Creuset, and mug enthusiast, and so many other things!

I love music…..I literally cannot function without it! Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop and 90s R&B are my jam, but I also get down with Jazz and several other genres (you can keep the country, though….that is not for me). I speak French and enjoy French language and culture studies – I live my life in two worlds, and I love it! I love to read non-fiction books, particularly autobiographies of black women, revolutionaries, and civil rights activists. If you’ve been on my “What I’m Reading” page, you may have noticed a trend….. I also love a good series binge or movie!

I’m a foodie! I thoroughly enjoy cooking….and eating! I’m not formally trained, but…ya girl can burn, ok? I’ll be sharing recipes here and doing some restaurant reviews as well. I love traveling! Whether it’s a quick weekend road trip or catching a plane to somewhere far away – I’m down! I wish I had the financial freedom to travel more often, but when I do head out, I’ll be sure to share some of my adventures here.

I get a lot of pleasure out of planning and hosting events. Movie night, birthday brunch, tea party, election watch party, candle making party…..the list goes on and on. I will take any excuse to get my girls together to share food, drinks, and laughter in a cozy space! And, I’m so extra, y’all….I plan every detail from the invitation, to the color scheme, to the party favors (which, are usually some sort of cup!), and I love every minute of creating memorable experiences for the people I love.

I am many things, and I am proud of who I am. I started this blog to share my love of coziness in the home, but I also started it to build community. I crave community and sisterhood with women of color. We are MAGIC, and, while all are welcome in this space, respectfully, nobody gets us, but us. This space will not exclude non-Black women, but it will focus and center on the majesty of Black women and the power of sisterhood. Yes, I started a blog, and I am using Beyonce’s innanet to find my tribe! Where you at, ladies? Holla at ya girl!

I’m so, so glad you’re here. Please use my contact page to drop me a line so that we can connect with each other – I can’t wait to hear from you!
